If you need to celebrate life more then you need to take lessons from a child. Just watch how childeren are always laughing and smiling while most of us adults are not. Sure, they have a great life of not having the stress and worries that we face daily but there is one thing they do that we don’t.
When a child gets a good score or makes a good decision, they announce it to their friends and parents saying something like “Look what I did!” They also will come to you smiling as big as they can while trembling with excitement knowing they will be rewarded for the accomplishment they have achieved. You see, celebrating the good things in life, big or small, is second nature to them. My question to you is, “Why did we ever stop?”
Celebrate Life More In Everything!
While growing up we become accustomed to this “doing good works and getting rewarded” type of system. However, as the years increased, the reward opportunities seem to have faded away. Now that we are years older, it is as if the only time we celebrate is when we either:
- Get a promotion
- Land a new job
- Have a kid
- Reach another birthday.
Where’s The Party?
Most of the time we forgo celebration because we either feel it is not important enough to celebrate or we declare that we don’t have the time for it. So I want you to hear me very clear…both are lame reasons and should be tossed out of your “pocket of excuses” today!
Starting now, I want you to get back to a mindset of a child and anytime something good happens in your life, celebrate it! Yes, celebrate life no matter how small it is. Why?
Here are 4 good reasons:
- You will see just how great life really is. Celebrating detours depression and increases self-esteem. Once you truly believe how great your life is, and how better it can get, then you can enjoy all that God has blessed you with.
- It brings joy into your spirit. When your spirit is joyful, it sustains your attitude of gratitude and leaves you with a positive charge. This will affect all those around you, especially your spouse and kids.
- Celebrating the small victories helps you reach your larger ones. That keeps you going and pushing forward each day which then leads you down the road to your destiny. This will cause you to conquer life goals and finally obtain the dreams you have always had!
- It is good for your health! Celebrating is fun and fun leads to laughter. That laughter then increases your health which also has many beneficial effects on your whole body and life. So celebrating more could actually be argued to help you live a healthier more rewarding life!
Know that celebration of the good things ignites that joy in your spirit and relaxes the weights of life for a moment. It not only promotes a positive prospective but it also allows you to spend time with those you truly care about and those that truly care about you…your family and friends.
Start thinking about all of the small victories you can begin to celebrate. Right now, this may not be easy because you have acclimated yourself to not recognizing them but it will get easier as you practice. Don’t be afraid to pat yourself on the back and declare that you have done a good job. Go ahead and reward yourself because you deserve it!
